On Thursday, April 16, 2020, instead of having our regular West Coast Swing class at Dance Dimensions in Norwalk, CT, we gathered together virtually. We used Zoom to have our third SwingShoes Video Social. This social was open to all dancers who attend our classes. It has been a fun way for our community to keep in touch with each other and create some fun memories.

Unexpected Themes

Unexpectedly, many themes started to emerge from our conversations. For instance, one week multiple people had used their quarantine time to shred extraneous papers at their home, do mulching, yard work, and pest control. Attendees also found creativity with their virtual backgrounds, including beach vistas, the throne from Game of Thrones, Grand Central Station, talk show stages, and the backdrop from "Saturday Night Fever."

Helping us Stay Connected

While the Coronavirus pandemic makes us all wonder about the next time that we'll dance together, our video socials are helping us stay connected. If you have been attending, thank you for sharing your journey with me. If you would like to join our group, it would be great to see you.

Our current schedule is every Thursday at 7:30pm. The link for the SwingShoes Video Social can be found on the calendar.
