I am very excited to hear that Governor Lamont is eliminating its capacity limitations for various businesses on March 19.

The announcement on Connecticut's official website, CT.gov, indicated:

All capacity limits will be eliminated for the following businesses, while face coverings, social distancing, and other cleaning and disinfecting protocols will continue to be required:

  • Restaurants (8-person table capacity and 11PM required closing time for dining rooms continues)
  • Retail
  • Libraries
  • Personal services
  • Indoor recreation (excludes theaters, which will continue to have a 50% capacity)
  • Gyms/fitness centers [dance studios are part of this group]
  • Museums, aquariums, and zoos
  • Offices
  • Houses of worship

While I will maintain the current limitations of 20 people in my West Coast Swing dance classes until the end of March, I will allow regular attendance starting in April.

Right now, we have about 30% of our students who have either received the first or both vaccines. I am looking forward to the next two months, when almost all of our dancers will have the eligibility to receive their vaccines. Our cautious approach to partner dancing (cleaning of the studio prior to students' arrival, health questions and temperature checks upon the students' arrival, mask usage, and liberal use of hand sanitizer) has helped us since September to begin dancing again. I am thankful for all of our dancers' cooperation. There is light at the end of the COVID tunnel...it leads to more dancing.
