WEEKLY DANCE SCHEDULE
|
Every
Tuesday
Hustle
Norwalk, CT
(see below) |
Every
Thursday
West Coast Swing
Norwalk, CT
(see below) |
Beginners
(Series begins the first week of the month) |
We start from the tippy-top and break down every step of
the fundamentals of West Coast Swing/Hustle/Salsa. It is perfect if
you have never tried partner dancing before or if you've decided to learn the
opposite role. You're never too good to learn it right.
The beginner
series usually starts the first week of
the month for four weeks. New
beginners are encouraged to begin the
first two weeks.
No
experience required. No partner required.
Many people take the
beginner series (4 classes over 4 weeks) at least twice
so that they feel comfortable and fluid with the basic
vocabulary.
|
Intermediates
(Not a series; each class is its own) |
Once you've got the basics, it's
time to build your vocabulary. Plenty of social lead/follow
patterns with a strong emphasis on technique.
Choreography will be used to help illustrate musicality and
repetitive motion.
Pre-requisites: Leaders and Followers must be
comfortable with the Basic vocabulary of the dance (for
WCS: a Push Break, Sugar Push, Right Pass, Underarm Pass,
Left Pass, Basic Tuck, Progressive Tuck, Whip, Whip with
a Double Outside Turn, Anchor Step etc). Attendees
must also be able to do the basic vocabulary without
holding back the general momentum of the class.
No partner required.
|
|
What to Expect: |
Lessons are
taught in the manner of a professional dance class.
Since partners are not required, attendees are rotated
so that everyone gets to enjoy the learning process
(which is customary in the learning process of
social and partner dances). If it's your first
time, it will be challenging...because learning
something new can be ....new. Smile, relax, say
hello to the people around you and welcome to our dance
community.
See other Etiquette Tips
(especially #8).
