 All-Star dancer, Ligaya Wakefield,
will be teaching an afternoon of West Coast Swing lessons at
Rhythm in Norwalk, CT.
The afternoon will start with 2
Intermediate Workshops, which are designed to heighten your
WCSwing experience, give you better connection and expand your
vocabulary. The Lunch & Dance Break will provide you with
time to eat and practice your new stuff, while Ligaya gives you
feedback.
The Crash Course is the perfect
class to introduce a new beginner to West Coast Swing.
It's also a great way for a seasoned WCSwing dancer to practice
some of the basics while at the same time accelerating the
learning experience of a new dancer.
If you've been lucky enough to
experience Ligaya (a regular at our Monday Night lessons and
parties), then this is your opportunity to understand why so
many people love dancing with her. If you haven't met
Ligaya, then you're in for a treat. |

Turning Anchors and Advanced
Connection for Better Leaders/Followers
Level:
Adv Beginner
You've learned your basics,
you're leading and following more advanced patterns. Now is the
time to step it up a notch and learn advanced connection
technique. This class will help you with those trouble spots
that you have whether you're leading or following basics, or
more complicated patterns.
* Requirements: You
must know your 7 basics and be able to sustain a social dance.
Review
your basics here. Entry is subject to the discretion
of the instructor.

Using Body
Isolations & Level Changes to Hit the Music.
Level:
Adv Beginner
So you're ready to interpret
the music, but what do you do? Is the music sexy or playful?
Fast or slow? This class will help you have some new motions
to add your bag of tricks. Learn the many zones of your body and
how you can use different types of motion to add contrast to
your dancing.
* Requirements:
You must know your 7 basics and be able to sustain a social
dance.

Lunch, Drink & Dance Break
During this hour break, Rhythm
will offer some light snacks and full range of beverages from
their amazing bar. We will also play music for you to
dance and enjoy.

West Coast Swing Crash Course
Level:
Basic/Beginner
This is a basic class
introducing the fundamentals of West Coast Swing and some of the
basic patterns and theory of movement. We will introduce
both the 6-count and 8-count basic patterns. It is perfect
for the "day one" beginner and designed to have you dancing the
very same night.

class is designed for ALL dancers.

WCS Party at Rhythm
Although this party is in the late afternoon, we'll make sure
that we leave the windows steaming with hot music and fun times.
This is your chance to relax and try all the things that you
have learned throughout the afternoon.
Music will be of the West
Coast Swing variety: Blues, Swing, Pop and late-night groovy
stuff. |

Who is
Ligaya Wakefield: |
 Ligaya Wakefield was
classically trained in dancing starting at the age of five, and
partner dancing for the last ten years. She fell in love with
swing dancing in 1998 and began to compete on a national level,
becoming a nationally ranked dancer at the professional level.
 She won first place titles at Grand National Dance Championship,
North Atlantic Dance Championship, Mid-Atlantic Dance Jam, among
others, and became a National Association of Swing Dance award
winner (NASDE) in 2003 and US Open Swing Dance finalist as well.
She has taught at large venues like Lincoln Center in Manhattan,
and has taught and judged at many of the national events.
Ligaya can be found weekly at
Monday night West Coast Swing at The
Palms in Stamford where she regularly teaches with Erik Novoa.
She is also one of the featured instructors at the up-coming
WCS/Hustle/Salsa Fest which will be taking place May 30-31.
