2:00pm - 3pm WCSwing - Connection & Technique
Level: Beginner - Advanced

WCSwing is one of those incredible dances where a twitch of your hand or a tick of your body might been something to the follower and create another type of move.  Find out about the basics and adv concepts of connection that will make your WCS communication improve substantially.

This class will work on concepts that are usually only addressed in private lessons.  As micro-focused as this class is, we will keep it light and fun and make sure that we give you plenty of macro and expanded uses for your new-found connection.

This class is perfect for new beginners through advanced level dancers.  Beginners learn connection, Advanced dancers are always relearning/refining connection.  It's the holy grail of dance.

Requirements:  The very basics of WCSwing (Push Break/Sugar Push, Right Pass, Left Pass)

WCSwing - Musicality
Level: Beginner - Intermediate

One of the beauties of WCS is its ability to be extremely musical.  A simple dance should be able to illustrate the contrast between verses and choruses.  At its best, minor and major accents are acknowledged and actual lyrical expression is added.

This class will be an introduction to musicality as it works with WCS.  It will barely scratch the surface of what can actually happen during one dance.  However, this workshop will expand your mind and allow you add musicality to your dance in 1 day!

This class is perfect for Beginners through Intermediate dancers.  It would actually be impossible to be considered an advanced level WCS dancer without a strong understanding of how to apply musicality to their WCS.

Requirements:  The very basics of WCSwing (Push Break/Sugar Push, Right Pass, Left Pass)

Who is Erik Novoa:

Erik Novoa has been competing in West Coast Swing since 1998. In that time, he has risen to compete in the Invitational division. He has placed top-10 at the US Open in the Classic Division three  times and has excelled in Strictly Swing and Jack & Jill competitions at numerous national events.  Most recently, he won 1st Place in the Adv Jack & Jill at Swingin' Into Spring in Windsor Locks, CT.

Erik has also been competing in Hustle since 2000 and immediately stole the show by becoming a 2 time national champion in 2001 & 2002.  He later became a finalist on ABC Family's revival of Dance Fever, becoming the only Hustle act on the premier series which aired in July 2003.

She trained and performed in both classical and modern styles with Minnesota Dance Theatre & School and Minnetonka Dance Theatre. She also competed in ballroom/latin dance while at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In 2004, Anna choreographed and performed with the University of Chicago Ballet Company and attended the Alvin Ailey summer training program.  Since moving to New York in 2005, Anna has performed with Bernier Dance Company, the Little Orchestra Society and the Tyler Dunn Foundation.
