On Saturday, September 27, Silvana Gallagher, one of the super-stars of the Hustle world, will be coming to Connecticut to teach a day of Workshops.  This might be a life-altering day for many dancers...that's how good Silvana is.  Her dancing and teaching has revolutionized Hustle for the last decade and it is impossible to seriously discuss Hustle as a contemporary dance without naming her.  Leaders - watch out - Silvana is as good a leader as she is a follower.  Just when you thought your leading was good enough, Silvana can show you up in under 30 seconds.

Simply speaking: Silvana's teaching is good enough to guide beginners correctly and she's also good enough to teach the pros.  I'll be taking the classes, so should you.

This is a basic class introducing the fundamentals of Hustle and some of the basic patterns and theory of movement.   We will explore moves like the cross body, open throw out, underarm turns and simple return to closed.  It is perfect for the "day one" beginner.

This class builds on the concepts that were introduced in the prior class.  Both leaders and followers will have turns and spins within simple patterns to give them working usage of material from the first class.  Spinning Side Passes and Free Spins will make your dancing more eye-catching.

This class is a "rewind/repeat" from the class that was taught at the WCS/Hustle Fest in May 2008.  Learn how to double your repertoire by learning the skill of opposition.  All patterning has 2 directions and in some cases even more, giving you the opportunity to achieve more possibility.

Requirements: Participants must have working knowledge of their Hustle basics.

Moving around the floor or dancing in one spot is equally captivating.  However, these skills are complete opposites and require a different understanding of how to use your body.  Traveling requires stride and continuity where staying stationary requires the ability to spot and pivot.  Learn how to achieve these skills to be the all around dancer you know you can be.

Requirements: Participants must have working knowledge of their Hustle basics and understand the names and counts of all the basics.

Silvana Gallagher is known as one of the top professional  Hustle and Theater Arts dancers in the United States.  Having had a successful 10 year career with her partner, Brian Gallagher, Silvana is now working towards becoming one of the countries top competition style dance instructors.  Her mission is to encourage technically sound dancing with grace and a lot of imagination.

  Silvana's dance career began in 1988. She started with a local Ballet and Jazz dance company, in Doylestown, PA. Though Ballet and Jazz were her start, partner dancing was her true passion.  Three years later she moved on and into the city of Philadelphia for formal Ballroom and Latin training. She has not stopped since.  

  In 1992, shortly after starting her training in Ballroom and Latin, Silvana was introduced to Hustle and Brian Gallagher and together they trained and pursued a competitive career in Hustle and Theater Arts. Though Hustle became her competitive dance, Silvana never stopped training as a dancer. She continued and still continues her coaching in Hustle, Jazz, Ballroom, Latin and has added dances to her repertoire since, such as West Coast Swing, Salsa, Two Step, and Night Club 2. 

  Silvana is based in Philadelphia. She primarily teaches out of her new location, Vai Dance Studio in Havertown, PA.  She also travels nationally coaching, judging, performing and competing.  So look for her in a city near you.
