On Saturday, March 20, one of the great followers of the Hustle world will grace our presence.  Maria Torres is one of the most famous names in Hustle since the dance was born in the night clubs of New York.  Since the 1970's, she has gone on to represent "the Diva" styling of the dance - powerful, women's following.  Her choreography has most recently been seen on "So You Think You Can Dance" and now she's coming to our studio.

Maria Torres will start this day with her Latin Jazz Class, which she teaches regularly in New York City at places such as Broadway Dance Center and Steps.  She'll continue teaching how to add excitement to your Hustle, she'll put the NY in your New York Walks, and she'll show you how to add fierce attitude to your Hustle.

Followers, this workshop is not to be missed.  Maria will show you how to own the dance.

Level: All Levels

This class is a must!  It might be the most useful of the entire series and a great way to start your day.  Maria teaches this class at one of the major dance studios in New York.  If you've ever wondered how to use your body more when you dance (not just do the steps), this might change your game.  This class is not partner based so it's perfect for anyone.  Men - don't think you're above this - we've seen how you dance.

Maria is known for amazing choreography and her way to make the men look dominant while bringing out the sexiness of the follower. Come see how she can add elements to your dance that will show that you "own" Hustle.

The NY Walk is one of the simplest travel moves, yet it can also be bland.  This workshop take the New York Walk and adds style to it, embellish the movement to give it more personality.  Maria will add some more traveling elements to give you the full NY tour.

Making your Hustle Fierce
Level: Intermediate

Time to combine challenging movement with dynamic style.  Maria will give you an excerpt of great choreography and add embellishments to it.  By the time you're done with this workshop, you'll think you were on a hit dance reality program.

What you might not know about Maria is that, not only can she clear the floor with her Hustle, but she can also tear up the club with her West Coast Swing.  We'll be dancing up a storm to all the musical spectrum - from top contemporary radio tunes to some funk and some blues.  I'll even slip in something slow and groovy if asked.  Maria is going to put the Diva back in your Dance!!!

Maria Torres O'Connor is renown as an award-winning director, choreographer, dancer, actor, and master teacher for Broadway, stage, film, corporate projects, community events and television.  Her extensive credits include the sizzling choreography on the hit TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" for which she won the 2008 Choreography Media Honor for outstanding achievement in choreography.   Maria choreographed the Off-Broadway musical hit Celia, currently on US and World tour. 
As a performer, Maria has graced both the Broadway stage, starring in Swing!, and the big screen in “Dance with Me," starring Chayanne and Vanessa Williams.

In the world of film, Maria has worked with world-renowned production houses and directors such as MTV, NBC, HBO, BBC, Walt Disney, and John Leguizamo. Most recently, Maria's work in the motion picture industry has allowed her the opportunity to work with John O'Connell and train renowned actors such as Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams in Disney's "Enchanted”to Raven Simone in College Road Trip. She did the Choreography for Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony in“El Cantante in which Maria also appeared.

In addition to her community involvement, she has taught at prestigious schools in the US and abroad including Alvin Ailey, Dance Theatre of Harlem and Broadway Dance Center.
